Markets in everything: Gourmet edition

Today I was taken to a store called "Russian Gourmet" in Fairfax. I found this:

On Yelp, the main complaint about the store is that it sells goods past their expiration date. I wouldn't see that as a problem in this case.

PS: There is a store in Arlington called "British Goodies". It does not appear to be empty.

I shop there all the time. It's the only place in NOVA I've been able to find fresh sprats when they're in season.

If it were French, "rillettes de porc" or something, then everyone would think it was classy.

if you read the fine print, it says "product of Poland" on the label. That is either really confusing or it totally makes sense.

Sam: what is a "sprat" and when is "sprat season"?

The Mclean Giant has a great range of british food products, in prime end-cap position. 24 hour marmite resupply.

Mclean- not just a company town.

wouldn't it be awesome if "The McLean Giant" was an actual giant? It could leap across the Potomac and battle the "Takoma Park Giant"

Sprats are small Baltic fish and they're in season in November. They taste like fresh cucumbers.

Also, are you still in the area? I feel it would be appropriate to have lunch at least once with my co-blogger's other co-blogger sometime.
